Tempest of a Woman

Zoë Lower

Tempest of a Woman, 2024

Price range: £1,550.00 through £2,150.00 £

Zoë Lower’s Tempest of a Woman (2024) explores the relationship between the human form and the natural world. Through her distinctive underwater photography and double-exposure techniques, Lower creates an image suspended between reality and imagination, where movement, light and water become part of the emotional landscape.

Working underwater on a single breath, Lower embraces the unpredictability of her surroundings. The resulting image conveys both strength and vulnerability, suggesting that transformation often comes from surrendering to forces beyond our control.

Presented as part of The Art of Conversation at The Chancery Rosewood, Mayfair, Tempest of a Woman forms part of the exhibition’s Crossing the Threshold conversation, alongside Hiroyuki Arakawa’s Kegon Fall and Lower’s Rising from the Abyss. Together, the three works explore the boundaries between the known and the unknown, and the possibility of change that lies beyond them.

An exploration of strength, vulnerability and the forces that shape us.

The Art of Conversation at The Chancery Rosewood

Exhibition Insight
Inspired by the chance encounters and exchanges that take place within great hospitality spaces, The Art of Conversation brings together twelve contemporary artists and asks what can happen when works with different histories, personalities and visual languages meet.

Like the people who cross paths within a hotel, each artwork arrives with its own history, character and perspective. It is what happens when they meet that becomes the exhibition.

We arrive as ourselves but can leave seeing something differently.
