Power Without Reins, 2023

Price range: £1,200.00 through £1,495.00 £

Gbolahan Ayoola’s Power Without Reins, 2023,  explores the relationship between power, leadership and responsibility. Part of his distinctive BlueWoman series, the work challenges us to consider who we are beyond the identities society assigns us.

For Ayoola, power is a beast that must first be understood before it can be controlled. The horse represents power itself, while the Blue Woman embodies a woman stepping into leadership. True mastery comes when she can ride without reins and still remain in control. Power must never become the rider.

Reproduced from the original painting, this is Ayoola’s largest-scale limited-edition print presentation to date, marking a new direction for his work. Each print carries his personally authorised digitised signature and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity and a personal letter from the artist to the collector.

Presented as part of The Art of Conversation at The Chancery Rosewood, Mayfair, Power Without Reins joins the exhibition’s exploration of identity, individuality and the freedom to define ourselves.

An exploration of identity, power and the freedom to define ourselves.

Exhibition Insight
Inspired by the chance encounters and exchanges that take place within great hospitality spaces, The Art of Conversation brings together twelve contemporary artists and asks what can happen when works with different histories, personalities and visual languages meet.

Like the people who cross paths within a hotel, each artwork arrives with its own history, character and perspective. It is what happens when they meet that becomes the exhibition.

We arrive as ourselves but can leave seeing something differently.
